Summer is here and patios are open. The Williams and McDaniel blog team wants to help you make the most of this short-lived, semi-sacred season. Here a few great spots In Kitchener to hit up this summer for some great food and drinks.

Borealis Grille & Bar

A local establishment committed to locally crafted and natural food, Borealis Grille & Bar uses high quality ingredients from Ontario farmers, breweries and wineries. Their patio provides the perfect spot to share an Ontario craft beer or wine with friends, and enjoy the simple pleasure of summer. The Borealis Grille & Bar is located at 4336 King Street East in Kitchener, just a 10 minute drive from Newport Towers, at 550 Strasburg Road.

271 West

The elegant, yet casual patio at 271 West (271 West King Street) is great spot for a drink but don’t miss out on the food! Their pizza dough and pasta are made from scratch and they bake their own bread on site. They feature local and regional produce and meats as well as an assortment of desserts – all made in house. Try the boca negra — a flourless chocolate cake, crumbly and perfectly sweet with walnuts baked right in ($8). They are just a 10 minute drive or 20 minutes on #22 bus from Newport Towers.

The Bent Elbow

Bend your elbow and raise a glass this summer at this craft pub. The Bent Elbow features an

amazing selection of Ontario craft beer, Belgian draft and a rotating cask ale on tap. This bar features over 30 taps that change regularly and an eclectic selection of bottles in the fridge. If beer is not on your dream menu, try their homemade ice cream! Find them at 2880 King Street East, an 8 minute drive from Newport Towers. Closed on Sundays.

Bobby O’Brien’s

A classic Irish pub with a laid back atmosphere and comfortable patio. Bobby O’Brien’s offers a classic Irish fare and local pub favorites. Round up some friends and head on over! They are less than a 20 minute ride on the #22 bus from Newport Towers.
