Resist the urge to settle in with a good book, a pumpkin-spiced latte and a blanket, and never move again. Stay active this fall to stay healthy and to prevent going stir crazy this winter. The blog team at your preferred property management company, Williams and McDaniel, has compiled five fun fall activities to try near Kitchener apartments.

1.Sign up for a run

Fall is full of fun runs and races, many of which raise funds for a good cause. The Official K-W Oktoberfest 5k Fun Run is at 8:00 a.m. on October 10th. Runners will follow the Thanksgiving Day Parade route. Runners are also welcome to stay for the afterparty after they cross the finish line.

2. Get lost

Race your friends through a corn maze this fall and get a workout without even realizing it. Near Newport Towers (550 Strasburg Road), Shantz Family Farm (1544 Bleams Road) is only a 10-minute drive away. For an added bonus, workout your biceps by picking pumpkins afterwards.

3. Go for a hike

Before colder weather sets in, visit Kitchener’s most scenic spots. Huron Natural Area (801 Trillium Drive) is an obvious starting place. Walk or run along Strasburg Creek amidst wetlands, forest and meadows and maybe spot some wildlife along the way. Newport Towers is a five-minute drive from the park.

4. Try an outdoor class

If a little group accountability is what you need, Huron Natural Area is also the place to go for outdoor wellness classes. From yoga to guided walks, there are a number of sessions being held here, each of which are centered on the season’s beauty and your wellbeing.

5. Explore by kayak

This fall, go kayaking. As leisurely or as high-energy as you make it, this autumn activity gives you up-close views of Ontario’s changing colours. There are many places to go in the area. If you don’t have your own kayak or canoe, Canoeing the Grand (3734 King Street East) has you covered. This local shop is a 10-minute drive from Newport Towers.
