3 Ways to make laundry night simpler

apartments for rent in Kitchener, apartment living, cleaning, Kitchener Apartments, Apartments Kitchener, Apartments for Rent in Kitchener, Kitchener apartment rentals, Apartments in Kitchener, Apartment rentals in Kitchener, Kitchener Apartments for RentLaundry day can be a hassle that many would rather avoid. With some pre-planning and helpful tips, residents of the Newport Towers Apartments can make it a breeze and less of a burden on their daily routine. To simplify laundry day, our preferred property management company, Williams and McDaniel, has put together some organization tricks that will make the process more efficient and effective.

Make a Laundry Kit

Avoid carting your laundry supplies around or forgetting something when you’ve already made it to the laundry room by creating a DIY Laundry Kit. Gather your laundry tools, including detergent, fabric softener, dryer sheets, bleach, coins or a smartcard, in a laundry bin and restock as needed. When it’s time to do laundry, simply grab your dirty clothing and your supplies and you’re on your way. Visit Walmart at 1400 Ottawa Street South, which is a six-minute drive and 23-minute transit commute from the apartments, to pick up the containers and laundry supplies you need.

Keep Track Of Time
Set a timer so you know when your laundry needs to be moved from the washer to the dryer or to determine when it’s finished. While most machines are set to ding when they’re finished, it is easy to forget and leave your clothes to sit longer than they should. Using the timer will help encourage you to get your clothes as soon as they’re done and to put them away – avoiding a situation where they pile up. The Newport Towers Apartments feature energy efficient washers and dryers.

Create a Schedule

Breaking up the task of laundry will make it less of a burden and a more manageable part of your routine. Designate a particular kind of clothing or a particular portion of the household to do laundry for each day of the week. For example, the Mary Organizes blog splits up the task by assigning Miscellaneous Mondays, Towel Tuesdays, Kids Wednesdays, Adult Thursdays and Bedding Fridays. Feel free to play around with these concepts and design a laundry schedule that works with your lifestyle.

Sorting and Folding

While it might be tempting to procrastinate and leave your laundry folding and sorting to another day it’s better to get it over with. One method that will encourage you to put your laundry away as soon as it is done is to have only one laundry basket. This will force you to fold what you’ve already completed before you put more in. Always make sure you refill your laundry supplies before you start a new load. Grab additional items at Zehrs Markets at 750 Ottawa Street South. The store is a two-minute drive, one-minute transit commute and an eight-minute walk from the Newport Towers Apartments.
Simplify your laundry routine with these creative and helpful tricks. Located at 550 Strasburg Road, Williams and McDaniel’s Newport Towers Apartments offer current and prospective residents an ideal rental option in Kitchener-Waterloo.

Make sure your bike is ready to hit the road with a little maintenance at Ziggy’s Cycle and Sport (417 King Street West), a ten-minute drive from Newport Towers (550 Strasburg Road). Organize your storage space

Kitchener Apartments, Apartments Kitchener, Apartments for Rent in Kitchener, Kitchener apartment rentals, Apartments in Kitchener, Apartment rentals in Kitchener, Kitchener Apartments for RentApartment spaces can often be cozy so you need to get creative if you’re going to conquer the clutter that seems to accumulate. The main culprits are closets, cabinets and drawers because they can easily be filled and forgotten about. To keep clutter under control in your Kitchener apartment, our preferred property management company, Williams and McDaniel, has put together some helpful tips that will make cleaning less of a hassle and clutter a thing of the past for residents of the Newport Towers Apartments.

Bedroom Closets

Handling your closet in sections or designating tasks over days will break the process up into smaller jobs and make it feel like less of a challenge. Use clear or labelled shoeboxes to store lightweight items and trinkets. Located at 135 Gateway Park Drive, Chapters has a large selection of stylish storage options and is a 12-minute drive from the Newport Towers Apartments. Purchase a belt rack or shoe rack and use it as an easily accessible organizer for your items. While your closet might be brimming with items, ask yourself how many of them you actually wear. Consider donating or consigning pieces that you haven’t worn in awhile and are simply taking up space in your closet. Located at 120 Ottawa Street North, Value Village is a six-minute drive, 26-minute transit commute and a 42-minute walk from the Newport Towers Apartments and are always accepting donations. Make some money while you de-clutter by dropping off your used clothing at one of Kitchener’s many consignments shops. Carousel Clothing at 72 Saint Leger Street is the largest consignment shop in the area and is a 10-minute drive and 33-minute transit commute from the apartments.

Under-Sink Storage

Under-the-sink real estate is often filled with pots, pans, kitchen cleaners and extra supplies. However, storage can sometimes be tricky due to the sink’s base and invasive plumbing lines. There are a variety of products for sale that will help you bypass this problem, including Sidelines’ U-shaped basket, which will organize your supplies by curving around under-sink obstacles. Rolling drawers are another option that will make it easy to retrieve and reach items, including pots and pans, strainers and baking ware, without a struggle. Creative storage alternatives are available at Walmart at 1400 Ottawa Street South, which is a seven-minute drive, 18-minute transit commute and a 33-minute walk from the Kitchener apartments. Free up space in the cabinet by using a back-of-door storage caddy. Keep sponges, sprays and soaps in the built-in compartments and take organization further by putting cleaning supplies, toiletries and skin care products each on a designated shelf. If more than one person is using the bathroom, create labelled baskets where everyone can put their daily essentials or extra items.

Junk Drawer

The first step when it comes to tackling the junk drawer is to completely dump out its contents. Find a large, open space – floor or big table – where you can spread everything out and sort it into groups. Separate similar items into respective piles and create a new pile or miscellaneous items. Place all those tiny items (tacks, batteries and clips) in a Ziplock bag or old margarine container for storage. Emptying out the drawer will also give you the opportunity to clean it out, so that when you put items back in the drawer they won’t get dirty. Purchasing a drawer organization can help you maintain a clutter-free junk drawer. You can choose from stackable options that allow for multi-tiered organization or singular ones that give you one level of storage. HomeSense at 655 Fairway Road South has a variety of storage items that will transform your disorganized mess into organized bliss. The Kitchener apartments are a seven-minute drive, 21-minute transit commute and 41-minute walk from the store. When purchasing an organizer, consider the size and depth of drawers and the items those drawers will be holding. Make a habit of routinely checking the drawer to ensure that unnecessary items haven’t been accumulated to save you from overflowing drawers and the chaos of clutter.

Use these tips and suggestions to wave goodbye to clutter and welcome organization into your apartment space. Located at 550 Strasburg Road, Williams and McDaniel’s Newport Towers Apartments are an ideal rental option for those looking for an apartment in Kitchener-Waterloo.

Simple shoe storage

Increase the life of your shoes and enhance your closet space by keeping it organized and free of clutter with clever shoe storage. Residents of the Kitchener apartments can take advantage of store-bought storage solutions or can try their hand at creating some stylish DIY shoe racks that will house their shoe addiction. No matter which route you take, you’ll be able to transform your formerly cluttered closet space into an organized oasis for all your fashionable finds. To help residents keep their shoes organized, our preferred property management company, Williams and McDaniel, has put together some inventive DIY ways to keep your shoes organized until they’re back on your feet.

DIY Ladder Storage

If you have a spare or old rickety lying around, put it to use by transforming it into a shoe rack similar to the one on ‘The Nest’ blog. Display your vast collection of shoes in a tidy manner that also makes them easily accessible when you want to wear them. Simply grab the ladder, lean it against a sturdy wall and hang your favourite pairs of shoes on each of the ladder’s rungs. Brighten it up even more by storing your colourful necklaces, scarves and accessories on the top of the ladder. Drop by Swanson’s Home Hardware Building Centre located at 166 Park Street, which is a 12-minute drive from the Newport Towers Apartments, to pick up a ladder or try your luck at the local Salvation Army Thrift Store. Located at 563 Highland Road West, the store is a seven-minute drive from the Kitchen Apartments.

Hanging Flip Flop Tutorial

Keep your flip-flops and flats in order by hanging them on these DIY hangers by ‘Hey Wander.’ All you need are hangers and some pliers or wire clippers and some yarn to suspend your shoes. Say hello to organized shoes and goodbye to mountains of mismatched footwear.

PVC Pipe

Turn PVC pipe from your local hardware store into a low-cost and space-saving shoe storing solution by following the ‘MacGyverisms’ DIY tutorial. You can also use concrete forming tubes, which will be cheaper and easier to cut. When it comes time to select the PVC pipe, it is important to measure your shoes so you can ensure the diameter you choose will fit your shoes. The amount of PVC pipe you need for your shoe rack will depend on how large your shoes collection is. It is best to cut more pipe than you need, just in case you happen to go on a shopping spree in the near future. If you’re in need of a new pair of stylish shoes, drop by Winners at 63 Erb Street West, which is a 14-minute drive from the apartments, to satisfy your craving to shop. Once you’ve assembled and glued the pipe together, place the storage structure wherever it fits or wherever it is needed. Normally, PVC pipe and concrete forming pipe come in a bland white shade, so liven things up by painting and personalizing them to fit your unique style. Pick up the PVC pipes at Home Depot located at 1450 Ottawa Street South, which has a large selection of hardware supplies for purchase. The 550 Strasburg Road apartments are a six-minute drive away.

Picture Railing Storage

Spaces look better when they’re organized and this is no different when it comes to your apartment’s bedroom or closet space. Restore order without sacrificing aesthetics by choosing a stylish storage option. A great example of this is the ‘Martha Stewart’ Picture Rail Shoe Rack, which allows you to showcase your shoes as though they were art (well, they kind of are!). This option can also double as a décor item that will fill up space on your apartment’s walls. Remember to get creative and paint the railings in a shade that will match your style and your apartment’s existing décor. For all of your crafty needs and supplies, visit Craft To Go located at 159 Country Clair Street, which is a 13-minute drive from the Kitchener Apartments.

DIY Crown Molding Shoe Organizer for Heels

For less than $30, residents can create the ‘Ana White’ DIY Crown Molding Shoe Organizer. It can be placed over the door for easy access that will also make the most of your apartment’s cozy space. For full instructions on this DIY visit the ‘Home and Away With Lisa’ blog and get started on this unique craft. Pick up the crown molding, spray paint and other materials at Michaels Arts and Crafts located at 500 Fairway Road South. The Newport Towers Apartments are a five-minute drive from the store.

With minimal materials, creativity and patience you’ll be on your way to an organized closet and ready for a shopping spree reward. Located at 550 Strasburg Road, Williams and McDaniel’s Kitchener Apartments are an ideal rental option for first-time or experienced renters looking in the city.
