Kitchener’s Discovery Square is truly a one-of-a-kind celebration. This four-day festival is spread out over the entire month of July, with one Discovery Square day per week — and believe us, it’s fun for the whole family. That’s why Williams and McDaniel Property Management has compiled a quick glimpse of all this exciting celebration of education has to offer. Oh, and did we mention it’s free?
Discovery Square, hosted by the University of Waterloo Faculty of Science, focuses on STEAM — science, technology, engineering, art and math. It’s a summer celebration for children aged 5-12 that features hands-on activities, demonstrations and live performance. The weekly event is hosted by popular children’s entertainer, Erick Traplin, and includes robot demonstrations, dinosaur exhibitions, sand exploration and animation.
Discovery Square is held July 6, July 14, July 21 and July 28 from 5-8 p.m. at Carl Zehr Square, rain or shine. The Carl Zehr Square is just a stone’s throw (five kilometres) from Williams and McDaniel’s conveniently located Newport Towers (550 Strasburg Road) — one of Kitchener’s top industry-certified apartment buildings, recommended by the rental housing industry of Ontario.
On the way to Discovery Square from Newport Towers, you’ll also be treated to the views and natural surroundings of Kaufman Park and Sandhills Park, as well as the beautiful downtown Victoria Park. The Museum is right around the corner from Discovery Square, so whether you have extra time on the way there or on the way back, be sure to check out some of Kitchener’s coolest exhibits.
