This four-day festival is spread out over the entire month of July, with one Discovery Square day per week — and believe us, it’s fun for the whole family. That’s why Williams and McDaniel Property Management has compiled a quick glimpse of all this exciting celebration of education has to offer. Oh, and did we mention it’s free?

Discovery Square, hosted by the University of Waterloo Faculty of Science, focuses on STEAM — science, technology, engineering, art and math. It’s a summer celebration for children aged 5-12 that features hands-on activities, demonstrations and live performance. The weekly event is hosted by popular children’s entertainer, Erick Traplin, and includes robot demonstrations, dinosaur exhibitions, sand exploration and animation.

Discovery Square is held July 6, July 14, July 21 and July 28 from 5-8 p.m. at Carl Zehr Square, rain or shine. The Carl Zehr Square is just a stone’s throw (five kilometres) from Williams and McDaniel’s conveniently located Newport Towers (550 Strasburg Road) — one of Kitchener’s top industry-certified apartment buildings, recommended by the rental housing industry of Ontario.

On the way to Discovery Square from Newport Towers, you’ll also be treated to the views and natural surroundings of Kaufman Park and Sandhills Park, as well as the beautiful downtown Victoria Park. The Museum is right around the corner from Discovery Square, so whether you have extra time on the way there or on the way back, be sure to check out some of Kitchener’s coolest exhibits.

Our preferred property management company, Williams and McDaniel, hopes you take advantage of this exciting educational celebration here in Kitchener.

Whether it’s relaxing with the family, keeping the kids busy or getting started on that to-do list that builds up, March Break is the perfect opportunity. Luckily, there are a variety of camps and programs located in close proximity to the Kitchener apartments to keep the family busy. Our preferred property management company, Williams and McDaniel, has put together some places to check out to ensure residents are prepared for March Break.

Waterloo Region Museum

If you’re looking for a fun outing you can enjoy with the kids, the Waterloo Region Museum is hosting a March Break Madness celebration. From Saturday March 8th to Sunday March 16th, families can enjoy demonstrations, hands-on activities, games and exhibits, like SHIPWRECK! Pirates & Treasure. Regular admission fees apply for this event. Located at 10 Huron Road, the museum is a seven-minute drive from the Newport Towers Apartments.

Manulife March Break Camp

Keep the little ones aged five to twelve years old occupied during the break at a day camp. From 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on March 10th to March 14th, kids can spend the day doing crafts, participating in games and sports and exploring the city. For example, taking a day trip to St. Jacob’s Market. Located at the Manulife Financial Soccer and Sports Complex at Bechtel Park, the camp is a 10-minute drive from the Kitchener apartments. The camp operates with a $40.00/day fee and for those interested in registering it can be done in a variety of ways.  To ensure your child has a spot reserved, it is important you register by March 3rd, 2014.

March Break Film Festival

For its eighth year in a row, the March Break Film Festival offers an assortment of family friendly movies to enjoy. Between March 11th and March 15th, the festival offers two or three matinees on each of their three screens, which means that you can preview six to nine films every day. The best part is seats are only $5.00.  This year enjoy films like Rise of the Guardians, Wreck It Ralph, Hotel Transylvania, ParaNorman and The Hobbit. The Newport Towers Apartments are a 12-minute drive from Princess Cinemas located at 46 King Street North.

Keep occupied this March Break by checking out some of these activities currently running in the city. Located at 550 Strasburg Road, Williams and McDaniel’s Kitchener apartments are an excellent option for those who are currently looking to rent.
